Mike began his career in real estate and construction over 40 years ago. He began by building homes for several large builders including US Home Corporation and Century Home Builders, Inc. Mike continued his career in residential construction with Justice Construction Inc. and Park West Homes, overseeing development and construction management in multiple regions. Karen Schmidt, Facilities & Design
Karen started with Mike Lang in St. Louis, around 2008, with the building of a 125 Unit Continuing Care Community which consisted of (4) separate buildings. Once completed, she was directly involved with the remodeling of over 10 Skilled and Assisted Living Facilities. She then moved on to multi-family projects and the construction of luxury apartment units.
She has been involved with the design implementation as it relates to the club house & units of over(10) multi-family developments to date, with more expected in the near future. She focuses on the most up to date apartment amenities and then works with the architect to hopefully incorporate as many as possible into our projects. She also works very closely with the design team to determine the color pallet, the unit & club house finishes and the selection & design and placement of furniture.
Currently, she is working on a project in Minnesota that is due to be completed around the first of 2023 and then will begin with the next project to start late Spring of 2023.
Matt Currie, VP of Construction
Matt began his career in construction 20 years ago and with that, he brings over 20 years of experience. Throughout his career, he has managed over $600m in new construction, which include 35 multi-family apartment projects, townhomes and carriage homes. Matt has held several different positions throughout his 20 years which include, Superintendent, Safety Director, Project manager to his current position as VP of Construction for Amerwest Constructors, Inc. He works very closely with architects, engineers, design team and is in direct contact with Owners to ensure the project is brought to completion and on budget.
Barry Hoffman, Project Manager
Barry first started in construction while in high school as a laborer, where he was involved with the framing of residential housing. In 2009, he started his construction career with the building of multi-family housing in Minneapolis. He has worked very closely with all subcontractors, excavators, utility workers, electricians, plumbers, etc. to ensure that the project is built to Plan and stays on track for completion. His involvement in the construction process is to see that the project is brought to completion, including getting any City approvals as well as any permits required.
Christina Esparza, Administrative Project Assistant
Christina is new to the construction industry but brings with her over 10 years experience in office administrative duties. She currently is responsible for the collecting of all sub-contract document agreements in a timely manner and to ensure that all the required documents are correct before handing off for execution. She tracks and receives all invoices to be processed and sent to the accounting department.
Christina, works out of our Minneapolis office assisting the VP of Construction and Project Managers.
